Intercon Paper

Gerardo: The paper industry had a golf tournament. He thought that I was going to be the good player, but I didn't deliver.

Roy: Bankers are typically good golfers. My name is Rogelio Rodriguez. I'm the owner of Intercon Paper.

Gerardo: Rogelio goes by Roy and I go by Gerardo.

Roy: He can say Gerardo but I'm still going to call him Gerry.

Roy: I think Origin is definitely investing in their technology and they're succeeding to be there for their customers. Sometimes we get bankers that come in, they come and it's just boom, boom, boom, boom, but this was different. I thought that the relationship was definitely different when we started it, and just building that trust. Most of our conversations are in Spanish, so I think it's healthy for both of us. Kind of keeps us grounded. I've never had that type of banking relationship before. We trade international, and so to be able to talk to somebody that knows the culture is a huge benefit.

Gerardo: He's a solid guy, you know, excellent character.

Roy: That's my number one guy. He's on my speed dial so, hey, I'll send you his contact information.

Gerardo: He's the owner of the business, and he's not taking a passive role in it. But he's actually very engaged, and he knows it from the heart.

Roy: He's the type of person that's going to follow through. He's going to be on time. He's a man of his word. And now I've got to stay at the same level with him, just to keep up.

Gerardo: We're not here just to make loans. We're here to build relationships where we can come in and be that financial partner.
